Linux For Beginners

How is it that can Linux be used on many different kinds of computer?

The source code for Linux is freely available as open source software and is written in the "C" language. "C" is one of the most widely used of programming languages. It is a relatively easy (though not trivial) matter to build a working Linux system for any computer platform for which a ā€œCā€ compiler is available. Consequently, Linux is available to run on a wider range of computer hardware platforms and processors than any other operating system! No other operating system comes close to Linux in this respect!
